Roatan Backpackers is a new little place in the corner of Roatan Island that offers a wonderful alternative to staying on Utila. If you fancy breaking away from the usual crowd then this is the place to come.
Situated up a small residential road and only a ten-minute walk from the local amenities and restaurants of Sandy Bay and a short taxi ride from the hustle and bustle of the West End, the situation is good.
There are a variety of accommodation options available including two dorm rooms with their own bathroom and kitchenette and a small studio apartment. The rooms are clean and the kitchenette is well equipped. Even better is that the place has a pool complete with waterfall and a large decking area with lounge chairs, which is perfect if you are tired of exploring the island.
The owner Mel has lived on the island for many years. She is welcoming and only too happy to answer any questions you might have or help you book an activity.
Prices for the dorm rooms are US$8/night per person and US$20/night for the studio (up to two people). These prices make it a great option for those who thought that Roatan was too expensive for backpacking travel.
