Keep an eye on Avianca, which is a Colombia airline that has various specials throughout the year. My wife is Colombian and we try to go to Colombia and Panama quite often. We have flown from Bogota to Panama return for under $200 each.

I try to visit these site and look at prices first in espanol, they really no how to change pricing for the gringo.

Yes,- Huanchaco is a little as I imagine Blackpool and Clacton to be;- EXCEPT for the fact I couldn't see anyone "beered-up" as I understand I would have in those places:-

Is this an unfair indictment upon those places as I have only been to Clacton of the two,- and that was in 1970, when I was 13 years old!!!

I found it to be a more relaxed, informal, and infinitely more personable place than the frenetic madhouses of Lima and Trujillo, and thus acting as a perfect repose for the person requiring respite from the clamour of the afore-mentioned cities.

Despite the fact that the Surfing Community has now found Huanchaco I would urge non-surfers to visit this extremely friendly place before it really does get too commercialised!

If anyone would like to receive a firsthand report and/or recommendation of where to stay/eat in Huanchaco please contact Nige at nigcoa@hotmail.com.

I am a potential traveler from Arizona to Peru, and I have recently been shocked to discover that prices of flights from Panama to Columbia (or Costa Rica to Ecuador, my preference) are all comparable to just flying directly from Phoenix to Lima! This doesn't make any sense.

Comment on Roatan – Chilling on the Bay Islands, Honduras by Alex

Some friends and I recently traveled to Roatan. It is absolutely amazing. We had heard that the hotels in West Bay can turn into a zoo during cruise ship days with hundreds of passengers descending on the hotels. We wanted to stay in West Bay but did not want to deal with all those people.
We ended up staying in a vacation rental in West Bay. We rented it from Caribbean Colors who offers "full service vacation and long term rentals". In addition to renting us the house, they also offer a kind of concierge service. I let them know what our group wanted to do and they did the rest for us. I found this easier than trying to do it online as so much of the information is out of date on so many of the websites about Roatan. Caribbean Colors also got us a great rate on a rental car (as I was told renting a Scooter was quite dangerous because of the roads) and found us a dive shop that we all loved. On our last night, instead of going to dinner, we booked a personal chef through Caribbean Colors that came to our house and made the most amazing dinner ever. They were extremely helpful with everything. Their website is [url=http://www.caribbeancolorsroatan.com] . I highly recommend them.

All in all, I loved Roatan. I thought thought the beach in West Bay was amazing though it does get too crowded on Cruise Ship days. We ended up diving most days so the crowds were gone by the time we got back in the early afternoon. The diving was great and we even saw a pod of dolphins. Definitely a must do!
